NCCA at FLANC Fall 2015

Registration for the Fall meeting of FLANC is now open.
October 23-25 at the Sheraton Imperial, Durham @RTP
The NCCA will meet on Saturday as usual. Sat. only registration is $90.

NCCA Session speakers:

  • Beyond Reading at Sight: Using National Latin Exam (NLE) Passages to Explore Roman Culture. Lauren Rogers, Salem Academy / Linda Montross, National Latin Exam
  • Encouraging Excellence: A Round-table Discussion on the National Latin Exam Syllabus. Linda Montross, National Latin Exam / Lauren Rogers, Salem Academy
  • Lingua Latina pro minimis: Latin Before Third Grade. Kate Beach, Trinity Academy of Raleigh
  • Utilizing All Three Modes via Your Reading-Based Latin Curriculum. Caroline Kelly, Mitchell Community College

Those attending the full conference can enjoy a Friday panel with two additional speakers:

  • Teaching Latin with Themes and Essential Questions: Not Just for AP. Mary Pendergraft, Wake Forest University
  • Using a Proficiency Rubric to Assess Classical Languages. Kat Byrd, Millbrook High School
FLANC Week will be preceded by a series of webinars
Early Bird Registration rates of $100 through October 3. Regular Registration is $140. Looking ahead, the annual conference of SCOLT (Southern Conference on Language Teaching) will be in Charlotte in February.

  1. If you're looking for a venue for a small event in this area, you may want to stop by and check it out. Their staff is very friendly and the food is great. We preferred this venue houston because they are all-inclusive, so you don't have to worry about chairs and catering because it's all part of the package.
